Cremation vs Burial
When the unfortunate time comes when you need to plan the funeral of a loved one, you will need to decide whether to bury the person or have them cremated. The question of cremation vs burial is a tough choice for many people for many different reasons. No matter which point of view you use, there are pros and cons to both types of burial.
Cremation Costs vs Burial Costs
If you look at the question of cremation vs burial from a financial point of view then cremation is much less expensive. The urn for the ashes cost less than a casket, there is no cost for a plot, and the cost are less because the funeral home does not have as much expense dealing with the body.
If you look at the question from a religious point of view both are accepted types of burial for most religions. In some cultures, cremation is the preferred method of burial.
Cremation vs Burial Evironmental Impact
If you look at cremation vs burial from an environmental point of view neither of them are perfect. Both types of burial have unwanted environmental impacts although the environmental effects of cremation are short-term.
Another thing that can be considered is that cremation does have the advantage of not using any ground. As we all know space is becoming limited for cemeteries the world over. Many people prefer to have their loved ones cremated because they can keep the remains of their loved one with them at all times. The urn of ashes can be set in many places, and if the loved one ever needs to move, the urn can easily go with them.
When it comes to the decision of what to do with the remains of a loved one the choice will always be difficult. The choice will always come down to personal preference, religious beliefs, or a family decision as a group, although for some families cost will play a part in the decision.
